The success of our company owes a great deal to our committed core team, who have worked together for over 10 years. After 4 years with our first venture Envirosports Ltd, the entire team of technical, construction and sales staff stayed together to form EcoBunker Ltd in June 2014. Since then we have grown steadily and recruited high calibre individuals to strengthen further our skills base and range of services.
Richard graduated from the University of Manchester with an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Specialising in highways, infrastructure, drainage and hydraulics, after 26 years working for major international consultancies (including Parsons Brinkerhoff and WSP) Richard had attained a Director level of responsibility, managing the technical output from a regional design team. Golf was, however Richard’s passion. During his civil engineering career, he took every opportunity to undertake golf course design tasks, and during that period he solved several complex land drainage issues (including an award-winning design) and gained planning consent for various golf related planning applications. He also achieved a lifetime ambition by surveying, designing, and negotiating the technical consents for a Par 3 hole which was built and has become a signature hole at that golf club.
Nobody in the world has built more synthetic turf edged bunkers than Llewellyn. With over 10 years experience Llewellyn has elevated the art of construction to a new level, and is in great demand all over the world, being widely recognised as the premier builder and trainer in this field of expertise. Llewellyn explains his initial experience of the Ecobunker construction method: ‘ When I heard my home club was about to start building synthetic bunkers, I was highly sceptical, however, as soon as I saw the first one I was immediately converted. As a greenkeeper I knew how difficult it was to maintain bunkers, and as a golfer I expected neat and consistent bunkers. This construction method achieves all those objectives and I’m delighted to be part of the team promoting this great concept’. Llewellyn is happily married and loves spending time with his wife and young son.
